Open Positions in 2025/2026 - Nomination Form

We hope you have already seen the bulletin insert/announcement about the church positions that are still vacant and that we hope to fill soon. Please prayerfully consider who you think would be interested and qualified to fill the following positions. You can list as many people as you like, including yourself. Building Trustee -

Term Three members shall serve as Trustees and shall be elected for a three- year term, with one of the three elected trustees being appointed Trustee Chairperson by the Chairperson of Church Council each year. A member may not serve as Trustee for more than two consecutive terms.

Purpose Care for the church building and all material properties of the church.

Welcome Baby Coordinator -

Term Appointed by FMT for a two year renewable term

Purpose Welcome Baby is a program to support families and welcome newborn infants into the life of Sterling Mennonite Fellowship. Involvement is offered from birth up to 2 years of age. Work of the Welcome Baby program is led by the unique needs and interests of each family and their preference regarding involvement in the program.

Gift Discernment Committee -

Term The Gift Discernment Committee of 3-4 members shall be appointed by the Missions & Service Coordinator for a two-year term, starting as apprentices in March, and commencing the two-year terms on July 1. This committee shall function year-round.

Purpose Assist in finding people to be involved in various committees whose term is up in the following year.

Pastoral Congregational Relations Committee (PCRC)

Term: Committee will consist of 3-5 members of spiritual maturity, with a balance of gifts among them (listening, counseling, mediation, discernment). One or two of these shall be chosen by the pastor(s). Gender and generational diversity should be achieved. Members will be appointed by Council for a three-year term and may renew for an additional three-year term.

Purpose: To care for the relationship between the pastor(s) and the congregation.

Treasurer

Term The Treasurer shall be a member and is appointed by the Church Council for a term of two years. May serve no more than two consecutive terms. Serves as a member of the Church Council.

Purpose Handles the funds of the church and keeps accurate accounts of the same. This includes accounts payable and payroll. An annual report of all receipts and expenditures must be prepared; this annual report must be independently reviewed.

Family Ministry Coord -

Term The Family Ministries Team (FMT) Coordinator shall be elected for a two- year term, starting in February as an apprentice, and commencing the two-year term on July 1. This person shall serve no more than two consecutive terms.

Purpose To provide guidance to the Family Ministries programs.

Adult S.S. Coord. -

Term The Adult Sunday School Coordinator shall be appointed by the Family Ministries Team Coordinator for a one-year term.

Purpose To organize a Biblical education program suitable for adults to be delivered each Sunday morning from September to June.

Mission & Service Coord. -

Members Consists of Missions & Service Coordinator, combined MCC Representative / MDS Representative, Food & Social Committee Coordinator, and one person from the Gift Discernment Committee.

Purpose To promote and support the congregation’s involvement in missions and service projects locally, regionally and globally.

Term The Missions & Service (M & S) Coordinator shall be elected for a two- year term, starting as an apprentice in March, and commencing the two- year term on July 1. This person may serve for no more than two consecutive terms.

Purpose To lead a team responsible for initiating new outreach and service projects and promoting interest in the outreach programs of the congregation.

Gift Discernment -
